Having taken what they could, and left before too many losses of their own could be taken (if any) the vikings would depart a gutted, burnt out town with ships filled with the living and the dead, and the riches of Chrisendom. Back to homes and families, the raiders would be in high spirits. But those left behind would have to face a greater, more subtle threat than raiders, but the upcoming winter.
