I regret this artist's name - shall we remove it?

Huh...I...dunno...
Uh, well, maybe I should make an exception and add the _(artist) append to it, to avoid confusion, yet that would go against our tagging policies...

This is an awkward situation. I'll have to get Mindwipe's take on it.

Don't quite see the problem with the artist name here; is it just worry that some people will think it's random tag graffiti?
At either rate, I'm in support of artist name tags being in the form of "artist name_(artist)", "artist:artist name" or some similar form: It'd help keep things clear, and I can't see any downsides to it (beyond the effort required to update old tags).

We're not going to add "_(artist)" onto every artist's tag for the same reason we already stated: it would make searching for artists a bigger pain than it needs to be.

As for the artist's name, it's stupid and offensive, but, well, I don't know what we can do about it. We need to credit artists, and if that's what he wants to go by, then our hands are tied.

Exactly. I have a feeling that we may have to fight to keep that artist's tag up on his images sometime in the future due to people who think it is tag graffiti taking it off. Hopefully they will read the comments.

And to further clarify on Mindwipe's point...
New users who come here would have no clue how to search for artists if we did that. We set up the tagging system as simply as we could while still fitting what we needed, in order to avoid confusing people who haven't gotten used to our appended tags yet.

Not that I'm toooooooo offended by this, (being of at least one of the parties that might be), but I just have to wonder... is our Alias system completely useless here?

I mean couldn't we just put the artist's name into the alias system so that it would change from "*artist*" to "*artist*_(artist)"? Seems like that might solve our dilemma here.

Yeah, but why go through that much trouble? Plus, tags like "nyuu_(manekin-eko)_(artist)" would still look stupid. :P

I think the clarity alone would be worth it. The awkward appearance of tags doesn't really bother me so much since we are always going to have long tag names now and again. I think it's more important that people understand what the tags are referring to since we don't have the benefits of color coded tagging.

If the only thing stopping us is laziness and vanity then I vote we do it. It would certainly reduce the confusion to an extent.

Most people can tell which tags are the artist by looking (and clicking on them would provide extra clarity). The only problem here is it seems like the artist name is tag vandalism.

I'm adamant about not changing the way we do things. If we add an "_(artist)" append to every artist tag, then wouldn't we have to do the same for characters and copyrights?

Well if we were to view the artists the same way we do the manippers and the colorists then no, we wouldn't. Although, I do understand your point. If you're really adamant about not changing this than I'll simply leave it as it is. *pouts* *stomps over to a corner* *crosses arms* *stews in silence*

Edit: On second thought how about a compromise? Since we do not tag the artist in every single image we post, how about we remove the tag for this one until the artist appears requesting otherwise? This image already has an ample amount of tags making it more than easy enough to find and this he only image that has this tag anyway. I don't really see the harm in leaving it off; wouldn't you agree?

Final Edit: After thinking about it for a bit I think I might have been jumping the gun. I don't want to abuse any powers. Even if I can't condone the artists name (and I really can't) the artist still deserves credit and if that's the alias the chosen (for whatever reason...) then that's the one we'll keep.

I'm sure there's all sorts of other offensive material here that I and others wouldn't approve of anyway. So we can't really start bending the rules for every little thing. My apologies, I got a little carried away.
