How long does it take someone, on average; to learn Japanese?

The United States' Foreign Service Institute considers Japanese to be one of the five hardest languages to learn for native English speakers and requires 2200 class hours of training to consider someone proficient enough for a FSI position requiring Japanese. That's probably as close as you'll get to an "average length."
As for what you're up against, there's about 60 syllables and 3000 characters. The grammar is pretty easy in my opinion, and reading is always easier than writing or speaking. I'm far from an expert though. Scotagn would know better than me, but I don't think he comes around here anymore.

So, sctoagn's left the booru? Hmm, hope he's ok. He seemd pretty dedicated... in his own way. Well if he is gone for good, I'll certainly miss him and I wish him well.

I'm planning on starting a Japanese language course later this year which should leave me with an intermediate level of Japanese by the time I'm through. I still don't suspect I'll be able to do much though but it doesn't hurt to have a skill under the belt.

I wonder if there's anything we can do to get more Japanese speaking people onto Hypnobooru. We know the hypnosis-fetish has a big following in Japan. Is there a Japanese equivalent to Hypnobooru?

And interestingly enough, MMD, I've hardly found sites in Japanese that are fetish-specific, let alone specific to hypnofetish.

It seems they're more fans of just tagging the stuff in places like pixiv, posting on chans/forums/blogs/personal art sites, or selling it (if they're the artist).
