Since Meiling's name appears to be written in Eastern order everywhere, I guess we'll follow suit.

Typically, when presenting themselves to Westerners, the Japanese use Western name order, hence the widely accepted reversal convention in anime translations.
On the other hand, the Chinese never switch their name order, regardless of who they're talking to. They never call Hu Jintao anything but Hu Jintao, but his family name is Hu.
Switching the name orders of Japanese characters in an Asian setting, like Gensokyo, that includes Chinese characters leads to confusing situations like this which wouldn't occur in real life, but hey, I'm not here to debate translation methodology. I like the manip! Kind of surprised it's the first one with Meiling on here.

That actually makes some sense, I guess. I just thought it odd that even places that use Western order call her "Hong Meiling" and couldn't think of any other reason than because she was Chinese. Seems I wasn't wrong. XD

And it's actually not a manip. The empty eyes were there from the start. :)
