Perhaps we could use this thread as an identification-request thread, so that manippers can add the right tags.

We could probably just add a "character_request" tag to any images we're unsure of.I think that might be a little simpler. Of course, this thread could always serve to raise awareness.

Wouldn't it be better to have a "person_request" or "identification_request"? Because, "character_request" sounds like you want to know what the character is, not who portrays it (as in, "what character is this person cosplaying?").

Also, Google Images reverse search does wonders. You just have to URL-escape the image URL, and put it to the end of this query:
http://images.google.com/searchb...p;safe=off&image_url=

You can use that as a "search engine" in your browser, that way, you can paste an URL without having to go to the google images site first (one step less :D).

Google Images reverse search

Even easier for Firefox users, an addon that adds reverse image search to the context menu: http://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/...esearch-by-image/?src=api
There's probably an equivalent for Chrome too.

Well, personally, I'd only ask after reverse-image-search had failed, or had only returned the site where I originally found it (unlabeled and untagged). I have a lot of things in my "Unknown/Nonceleb" folder back at the Collective.
