This thread is for discussing and suggesting changes and updates to the Tag Dictionary: forum #191

I know that there are still quite a few tags missing, but I wanted to go ahead and get this up sooner rather than later, because I know there are still people who have trouble figuring out the tags. Also, I’m not going to add EVERY tag to the dictionary. Things like hair and eye color, for example, seem pointless. Feel free to point out any tags I missed (even though there’s a chance I already know it’s missing) or any changes you think I should make.

Nicely done, Mindwipe. We're starting to seem like even more of a legitimate booru now.

If I may, I'd just like to say that I think the "expressionless" tag is being somewhat overused. I can understand it being used for images where the subject seems confused or slightly somber but I've seen a handful of images where the subject actually seems a little angry like this pic post #9169.

It's not a big deal but I just thought I'd bring it up.

I'm sure there's a bit of tag pollution going on here and there, and I try to remove or correct any tags I know are blatantly wrong, but there are some cases where I can see where the tagger was coming from and I leave it alone. "expressionless" and "dazed" have both been tags where I've had trouble judging if they're used correctly. "expressionless" has been used more for "vacant/distant stare" than its actual definition since its creation, and I've mostly just rolled with it.

I think it's odd bimbo and bimbofication are separate tags.

So do I, really, and I don't know where that started or why. I could make the argument that "bimbo" is the result and "bimbofication" is the process, but a bimbo pic that doesn't show the process probably wouldn't be allowed...

It may be time to do away with the "bimbo" tag. I'm not sure why I've let it go on for this long.

Excellent, I've been wanting to request something like this for a while.
I've probably been contributing to the "expressionless" pollution. I find myself adding it to a pretty wide range of expressions... I know I've tagged a lot of images with "open_mouth" because it helps me find sort of dazed looking pics like post #8974 or post #5937, both of which sort of fall into the same category for me but aren't both tagged expressionless.

That 2nd one probably should be expressionless, imo, so I added it. The first, I'm not as sure about.

I'm putting together a short list of tags I left off and will update soon.

Inductions - possession
Poses - saluting
Misc. - body_control, chin_hold, exhibitionism, resisting, unaware

How useless was the "bimbo" tag? Because of the way partial tag searches work, searching for "bimbo" automatically turned up all pics tagged with "bimbofication", anyway. So, using the magic of the alias system, we've done away with the "bimbo" tag, making "bimbofication" the sole tag for that sub-fetish. Trying to add "bimbo" to the tags will result in "bimbofication" being added instead.

We should probably add a list of hair styles to the dictionary. I don't think I saw any there.

No drool tag? For shame, Mindwipe. :P

Probably. The only hair style that's gotten any noticeable use so far is "twintails", though.

Isn't the point to help people know what to tag and when? Not everyone is going to pick up on the fact that we use certain obvious tags, like the drool or hair color tags, just by browsing around. I'm starting to believe that the dictionary will better serve its purpose if even the most obvious of tags were added.

"brown_hair - A character has brown hair." Yeah, that's informative.

Well if that's the case, Mindwipe, then maybe it might be better to just put down a few examples as well as the protocol for multicolored hair. We also don't seem to have a tag listing for ahoges. Wouldn't hurt, right?

I'll be clear about one thing, I will NOT put EVERY tag in this dictionary, because artist, manipper, character, and series tags are all tags too. It would be absolutely ludicrous for me to list every single artist, manipper, character, and series that has tags on this site. As for hair colors, the thing about them is you can't even get people to agree on them. I've seen green hair pics that I'd call blue, blue hair pics that I'd call purple, purple hair pics I'd call black, and so on. In any case, IF hair colors go in here at all, they're really low on my list of priorities.

As for things like series, artist, etc., just make a note at the end that things like series titles, character and artist names, and the like are tags used as well, but that they're excluded from the dictionary because it would be silly to try and write them all individually.

I know that many of these things are covered in the rules, but it's a bad idea to require users to go between two official posts just to get information on how to properly tag. Having them all in one post would be best.

This here post #7101 would be a prime example of an ahoge. Milla Maxwell has one of the oddest ahoges I've ever seen(which is saying something when it comes to ahoges). Ahoge is also known as stupid hair or dumb hair (or something like that). The part where Milla's hair sprouts a strays off to the side a gradually becomes green is her ahoge. An ahoge is typically where part of an anime characters hair sprouts up and strays from the rest of it like a plant or something.
